Kent, Melanie Taylor

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Melanie was raised and has spent most of her life in Southern California.She won her first National Art Competition at age 12 and studied with several celebrated artists. She graduated from the UCLA School of Art and taught art in the Los Angeles City Schools for 10 years.

She became known for her innovative curriculum and the creation and supervision of the Los Angeles Community Mural Painting Program in which over 50 murals were completed on city and community buildings.Melanie s works are characterized by their brilliant colors, authentic detail and whimsical portrayal of the subject.
